Create a trollen wheel with cardboard cut into a circle with a small hole in the center (about one inch). Cut 8 slits in the side. Choose 7 colored strings, tie them together on one end, and insert strings individually into the slits. Point the empty slit towards your body. Moving in a clockwise motion, take the third string up and put it into the empty slot. Turn the new empty slot towards your body, take the third string up and move into the new slot. Repeat the process until a Viking braid has been created. Use this activity to discuss Viking clothing made of braids, flax, leather, and metal pieces.
