Vikings

This Vikings Unit Study is part of our January themed homeschool curriculum. It introduces Norse history, culture, and mythology through crafts, storytelling, and imaginative play for elementary-aged learners.

Free Activity Ideas

These simple activity ideas are included to help you plan seasonal hands-on learning. Full printable lessons will be added over time.

Viking Longships

Create an at-home viking longship with all the historical details!

Viking Shields

Create Viking Shields with the same meaningful colors as the real thing to use in dramatic play.

Viking Berserker Costumes

Use fur scraps, vests, or any articles you can find to create Berserker costumes. The Dollar Tree usually sells swords to go with the costume. You can use your cardboard shields as well. Discuss how Berserkers used these items to dress and sometimes ran naked to attack! New vocab as well – go Berserk!

Viking Trollen Wheels

Create Nordic jewelry formed from the same braiding wheel the Vikings would have used.

Viking Runestones & Amber

Create salt-dough runestones using Viking materials and alphabet.
