Learning Across Ages
Toddler & Preschool: These ages can practice creating their own designs and using fine motor skills to move the bands across the pins. This type of hand-eye coordination is a wonderful activity and precursor to writing skills and math.
Elementary: We LOVE the geoboard for learning early math concepts. Often you may need to move one more or one less, which is a concept in early math that needs mastered. You can also introduce directional words like moving to the left or right. You also can practice addition and subtraction across the rows and columns to create symmetry. This is a wonderful activity for immersive, play-based elelmentary math learning. Older children can also figure out how many branches and dendrites (a fun science word) are on each snowflake, learning multiples of six. The geoboard also creates a great environment to work on repeated addition, multi-step addition problems, and multiplication. The precursor idea of perimeter and area are also laid out in creating geoboard designs.
