This goes without saying during the holiday season – bake cookies with your kids! Decorate them and read holiday baking books. Discuss measurements, colors, and shapes. Describe the feel of the dough and use vivid language to describe the cooking process; the feel of the dough and the smells and sounds of the kitchen. For extra fun, read the gingerbread man book, bake gingerbread man cookies, and use a small fabric or plastic gingerbread man with a fishing line tied around him to have him jump out of the oven upon opening!
